New milestone for Arkas in North Europe On Monday April 18th, Arkas owned Mv Wanda A will call Antwerp as part of the new vessel sharing agreement between Arkas and Hapag Lloyd on their service from North Continent to West Africa. After entering the trade in December 2015 through a slot exchange agreement with Hapag-Lloyd, Arkas has now become vessel provider which is a confirmation of their ambition and commitment to serve the trade. Meet the Mv Maremka. She is the latest addition to our fleet and we welcomed her for the first time in Antwerp this week. Meantime on her way back to North Africa again!

Boeckmans België NV is specialized in container shipments from Europe to North America.
Unfortunately the Transatlantic Container trade is faced with various challenges resulting in increased charges and congested terminals in the USA. For your easy reference we would like to list these topics and their effects.

• Trucking Capacity
Situation : the combination of chassis shortages and a national shortage of trucks and drivers have stressed truck capacity beyond its breaking point. Effect : significant container volumes cannot be trucked in due time resulting in congested terminals and demurrage & storage charges for account of the cargo. Trucking rates are under pressure and especially Tri Axle Chassis and IMO truck capacity are hard to contract.
Trend : in order to recover the unexpected increases in the cost of inland haulage most carriers are implementing various additional surcharges, such as :
- Intermodal Door Delivery Surcharge
- Dangerous Goods Interim Surcharge
- Tri Axle Chassis Interim Surcharge

• Port Congestion
Situation : bigger volumes to and from the USA are resulting in a number of ports and terminals being congested. The situation is critical at the West Coast where labour disruptions and equipment safety checks further deteriorate the situation. Due to shifting of volumes to other ports both on the West Coast and the East Coast there is a risk of contamination.
Effect : pending arrivals and departures for ocean vessels in the ports causing delays.
Trend : a port congestion surcharge will be installed with immediate effect for all containers arriving or departing from US West Coast ports.

• Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil
Situation : environmental regulations related to the emission control areas in Europe and North America result in the use of the new Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO).
Effect : BAF and LSS are being reviewed due to the higher cost of LSMGO
Trend : Low Sulphur Surcharges will be reviewed and/or raised starting January 1, 2015
The surcharge will be reviewed on a monthly basis and will also effect all “BAF inclusive” contracts.

Boeckmans België is happy to welcome the "Mv Marley" in her homeport Antwerp. She joined our fleet recently after a major upgrade in drydock. After the Mv Marcel, Mv Marschenland and Mv Mariaburg, she is the 4th vessel in our permanent fleet that serves the trade between North-West continent and West Med under the Scaldic Med Line brand.
The Mv Marley is a single hold boxshaped 3000dwt rivertrader under Belgian flag with moveable castle. The hold's dimensions are 56,5 x 9,01 x 8,06m and the vessel disposes of 2 moveable bulkheads which makes her very suitable and flexible for all kind of cargo combinations. Boeckmans is pleased to announce as agents for MARGUISA the introduction of a new weekly service from North of Europe to EQUATORIAL GUINEA enhancing its coverage in this area to meet the growing demand of the market. The new EGEN (Equatorial Guinea European North) weekly service will offer an extensive coverage of the trade with 4 ports of call. It will also offer the fastest transit time from North of Europe to Equatorial Guinea. They are calling mains ports: Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Le Havre with only one transshipment on Algeciras Port

Boeckmans België has been nominated as agents for Ultrabulk Shipping A/S in Denmark. The new parcel service called “Ultrabulk Steel Service” will mainly focus on following two trades: - The first one from Baltic / Continent to NCSA / Caribs / USG - The second one from Black Sea / Med to NCSA / Caribs / USG Being a conventional service, the aim is to parcel up steel, pipes and bulk cargoes on those trade lanes.
