New Solas Regulation related to VGM

Dear Customer,

As you are aware the new Solas regulation related to Vgm (Verified Gross Mass) will go into effect as from 1st of July 2016.
Shippers will need to provide shipping lines with a Vgm certificate before a ships plan is issued.
Failing to do so we will not be able to load the container on the intended vessel.

Most parties have already been informed on the methods that can be used as information was already spread intensively by trade press. In case this information is not clear yet we advise you to consult following sources :
International Maritime Organization : http://www.imo.org/en/MediaCentre/HotTopics/container/Pages/default.aspx
World Shipping Council: http://www.worldshipping.org/industry-issues/safety/cargo-weight , http://www.worldshipping.org/industry-issues/safety/faqs

As agents for our principals, we wish to receive the VGM electronically by email as per below options (a) and (b). All emails should contain the word 'VGM' and contain the booking number in the subject. Possibilities via EDI or webinterface will follow at a later stage. Any VGM submitted will have to comply with the stipulations of the new Solas regulation which will come into effect as from 1st of July 2016.

(a) VGM certificate in attachment by email:
The VGM certificate must be signed by the shipper (=the actual shipper on the B/L or his representative) and clearly contain at minimum the following elements:
- Container number
- Wording Verified Gross Mass + weight in KGS
- Booking number
- Name of shipper or his representative
- Name of authorized person or his representative
- Signature

(b) VGM data in email message clearly containing following information:
- Container number
- Wording Verified Gross Mass + weight in KGS
- Booking number
- Name of shipper or his representative
- Name of authorized person or his representative in capital letters
In case of option (b), the VGM certificate should be made available by shippers or their representative upon our first request.
Please note that the terminal will not accept any VGM document via the shipper side and will only accept VGM from the shipping line.

Hope to have informed you and in case of any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

We kindly ask you to relay this information to all necessary departments.

Kind regards,
Boeckmans Belgiƫ NV as agents only
